Updates for 2026 and adjustments to the current season’s regulations: here are the key points from the F1 Commission
On Thursday, April 24, the second seasonal meeting of the F1 Commission took place, bringing a change to the regulations for the current season, as well as some news for 2026.

Held in Geneva and via teleconference, the second F1 Commission meeting of 2025 introduced a few new developments. During the meeting, chaired by Tombazis and Domenicali, discussions covered not only 2026 but also current matters. With today’s meeting, F1 introduced some “minor changes” to the 2025 sporting regulations. A statement from the International Automobile Federation outlined the key points of the Geneva meeting.

The statement begins by highlighting the adjustments to the current year’s rules.
The F1 Commission modifies 2025 regulations mid-season

Among the main changes for the 2025 season are some implementations in view of the mandatory two pit stops during the Monaco Grand Prix.

Additionally, attendees discussed updates concerning allowances in Parc Fermé “in situations where a driver chooses not to wear the cooling vest.”
Furthermore, the FIA implemented a regulatory mechanism to manage delays at “fly-away” events, such as what occurred during the Shanghai weekend.

Looking at the financial regulations, the F1 Commission decided to make small adjustments “necessary for Cadillac’s entry into F1 in 2026.”

The well-known grass fires, already seen this year in Suzuka and last year in Shanghai, were also discussed. To mitigate this issue, the FIA committed to studying an alternative material for the car floor skids.
