The FIA has confirmed the zones where it will be possible to use the drag reduction system (DRS) in the Hungarian Grand Prix, the eleventh round of the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship.
After the victory took by Lewis Hamilton and the wave of controversy over the contact with Max Verstappen, in which the latter had the worst outcome (a visit to the hospital for assessment and damages of about 1.8 million euro for Red Bull), Formula 1 teams and drivers will return to battle on the narrow Hungaroring, confirmed this year with an audience capacity at 100% (this is the third appointment after the Austrian one).
The FIA, for the Hungarian weekend, has chosen to activate two DRS zones, which will be positioned on the main straight of the Budapest circuit and in the straight leading from turns 1 to 2. The zones will have only one activation point that will be placed before the last turn, and before turn 14.
After the debut of Sprint Qualifying at Silverstone, Formula 1 will return to using the traditional format with three free practice sessions on Saturday, two on Friday and one on Saturday, a qualifying session divided into three sections on Saturday and the Grand Prix scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the Hungaroring circuit.
