The presentation of the model for the cars that will compete in the 2022 Formula 1 season, which was held at Silverstone two weeks ago, has sparked many comments both among fans and among the technicians of various teams. What we offer you today is the point of view Scuderia Ferrari racing director Laurent Mekies, ahead of the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix:
“I think that the approach of the teams and of Formula 1, understood as a sport, should not be to face a change, but to study something completely new, starting from a blank sheet” – said Laurent Mekies in an interview for RaceFans.net – “Which will provide everyone with a real chance to change the terms of the grid order.” – he explained.
According to the French technician, there will be three aspects on which the teams will have to focus more in order to create a great project (here you can find the gallery of the 2022 car presented two weeks ago): “In terms of the biggest challenge from now, certainly in the early phase it’s probably the aero regulations and the way we get them to interact with the mechanical suspension. That’s probably the two biggest factors and of course there is always the element represented by the tyres which should be added to those two.” – Scuderia Ferrari racing director Laurent Mekies concluded.
