Everything that was inspected was found to be fully compliant with both the Formula 1 technical and sporting regulations.
The #44 Ferrari SF26 was selected at random
Sky Sports UK pit reporter Ted Kravitz had noted that, following the Spanish Grand Prix, there was unusual activity from FIA delegates around Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari. The reason behind that attention has now become clear.
As is customary after each race weekend, the FIA released its official report detailing the in-depth inspections carried out on a randomly selected car from the top ten finishers. These checks go beyond the standard post-race procedures, which typically focus on weight verification and underfloor compliance.
Following the chequered flag in Barcelona, the FIA randomly selected Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari SF26 for a detailed technical examination. The inspection focused on the rear braking system, covering both hardware and software components.
The governing body also analysed all sensors responsible for transmitting data to the standard electronic control unit, which enables the FIA to monitor various parameters in real time throughout a Grand Prix weekend.
After completing the investigation, every component and system examined on Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari was found to comply fully with the Formula 1 technical and sporting regulations, confirming the legality of the car following its victory in Barcelona.
