Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari SF-26 has passed a detailed FIA inspection following the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, with every component examined found to comply with Formula 1’s technical and sporting regulations. The checks focused specifically on the car’s air intake and internal combustion engine cooling system, extending well beyond the routine post-race inspections carried out in Baku.
The FIA selected Charles Leclerc’s number 16 Ferrari at random from among the cars that finished inside the top 10. This followed the usual procedure under which one car can be chosen for a more extensive technical examination in addition to standard checks involving areas such as minimum weight and the floor.
FIA examines Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari cooling system after Baku
Once the chequered flag had fallen at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, FIA technical delegates carried out a detailed examination of the SF-26’s air intake and the cooling system associated with the internal combustion engine.
The inspection covered the physical hardware of the system as well as its software. FIA delegates also checked all the relevant sensors responsible for transmitting information to the control unit, allowing the governing body to monitor the associated data in real time.
The cooling system is an important part of the SF-26’s overall thermal-management package. Readers interested in the technical solutions used elsewhere on the car can also explore our detailed look at Ferrari’s SF-26 cooling architecture and rear outlet solution.
Ferrari SF-26 found fully compliant with FIA regulations
After completing the hardware, software and sensor checks, the FIA found no irregularities on Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari. Every element examined was declared compliant with the applicable Formula 1 technical and sporting regulations.
The outcome therefore gave Ferrari a complete all-clear following the additional post-race scrutiny in Azerbaijan, with the number 16 SF-26 successfully passing the detailed checks carried out by FIA technical delegates.
