Guenther Steiner analyzes the most intense battle of the season: the Constructors’ Championship fight. And Ferrari is already clearly ahead
The fight for second place in the Constructors’ Championship has entered its decisive phase. With only ten points separating Ferrari, Mercedes, and Red Bull, every detail could make the difference. According to Guenther Steiner, former Haas team principal, Ferrari’s decisive advantage is not technical but human.
“Ferrari has the best driver pair on the grid,” Steiner said on The Red Flag podcast. “Mercedes has a good duo, but with a rookie like Kimi Antonelli. We can’t be unfair to him, but he is still a debutant. Red Bull, on the other hand, usually relies on only one driver to score points.”
Thanks to Charles Leclerc’s second consecutive podium in Mexico, the Cavallino Rampante has regained second place in the Constructors’ Championship, just one point ahead of Mercedes and keeping a threatening Red Bull at bay. With Lewis Hamilton alongside the Monegasque, Ferrari aims to leverage the seven-time world champion’s experience and consistency to defend their position in the last four races of 2025.
Steiner also looks at the midfield battle, where the fight between Haas, Aston Martin, and the Racing Bulls is equally tight. “It only takes one perfectly executed race to turn everything upside down,” he explained. “Look at Ollie [Bearman] in Mexico: a perfect weekend and suddenly you’re ahead. But it’s hard to make predictions; the championship is unpredictable.”
The former Haas boss also highlighted how particular circuits, like Mexico City or Singapore, can distort the performance hierarchy: “These are tracks that defy logic. Aston Martin, for example, suddenly flies in certain races. Everything is so up and down.”
With the season nearing its end, the tension is rising: Ferrari will have to seize every opportunity, because Mercedes and Red Bull are certainly not ready to give up.
