Scuderia Ferrari continues its steady and determined development of the SF-25, making significant technical and performance improvements in recent races. As a result, Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc arrives at Silverstone for the 2025 British Grand Prix with very clear and ambitious goals in mind.
Following a rather underwhelming start to the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship, the latest rounds have shown that the Ferrari SF-25 has made noticeable strides forward. Speaking during the official pre-race press conference that marks the start of the Silverstone weekend, Charles Leclerc made it abundantly clear what targets the Maranello-based team is now aiming to achieve in the homeland of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
The British Grand Prix at Silverstone also marks the beginning of the second half of the 2025 Formula One season, ushering in the full swing of the summer phase of the championship calendar. Despite some disappointing performances and even a few disastrous weekends earlier this year, Scuderia Ferrari now heads to the historic Silverstone Circuit as the closest challenger to the two McLaren drivers — whose papaya-colored cars currently seem out of reach for the rest of the grid.
The improvements made by the Maranello squad have become increasingly evident. Reflecting on the early races of the season, when both Ferrari drivers — Charles Leclerc and Spanish teammate Carlos Sainz Jr. — struggled even to secure places in the top three, the current situation represents a clear step forward. On the eve of the eleventh round of the championship, Ferrari’s tally includes four podium finishes — all claimed by Charles Leclerc.
Silverstone, known as one of the most iconic and technically demanding tracks on the Formula 1 calendar, now awaits. The Ferrari SF-25 will return to the track in the United Kingdom aiming to build on the strong performance seen at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The British circuit will also offer the team a chance to evaluate the performance of the newly introduced floor on a completely different and high-speed layout.
This technical challenge and recent form have allowed Charles Leclerc to arrive in the paddock at Silverstone with a visible sense of optimism. His confident attitude was evident during the Thursday press conference as he addressed the international media:
“At Scuderia Ferrari, we are pleased with the trend we have seen over the past few Grands Prix. It is clear that we are improving the behavior and consistency of our car step by step,” stated Charles Leclerc. “However, I must admit that there are still a few small things missing. Of course, our ultimate goal remains to win. Is it possible to achieve victory here at Silverstone? I would say the feeling is definitely a positive one. We have always been quite competitive on this circuit, and Lewis Hamilton, who races at home here, has achieved outstanding results. I hope I will have a very strong opportunity to fight for the win this weekend.” – the Monegasque driver concluded ahead of the British Grand Prix weekend.
