Ferrari’s right to review Carlos Sainz’s penalty is currently being evaluated. Carlos' penalty is currently being evaluated.

The review of the penalty imposed by the race stewards on Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz during the final stages of the 2023 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix at the Albert Park circuit for hitting Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin at the first corner after the third restart following the red flag is currently being evaluated.

Scuderia Ferrari in a letter dated 6 April 2023 pursuant to Article 14 of the FIA International Sporting Code has made the request to review the decision of the Stewards of the FIA International Sporting Code issued in the context of the 2023 Australian Grand Prix asking the Stewards to “…consider this request and to establish whether or not there is a significant and pertinent new element (Article 14.3 of the Code) in relation to the decision/ accident”.

Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz was fourth at the finish line in Melbourne, but due to the five second penalty imposed for the contact with Fernando Alonso, was classified in 12th place, outside the points zone. Around mid-morning it should be known whether the request for revision has been accepted or not.
