Ferrari keep a low profile
Many will remember Ferrari’s massive wave of enthusiasm at the start of 2025, marked by the first laps on track at Fiorano and the high-profile event in Piazza Castello in Milan. The Scuderia was coming off second place in the Constructors’ Championship, and fans were promised a fight for the world title, riding a surge of optimism that later collided harshly with the reality of the stopwatch. On track, Ferrari failed to secure even a single victory across a 24-race Formula 1 calendar.
For 2026, however, Ferrari does not intend to repeat the same mistake or launch into bold proclamations. This message emerged clearly from an interview conducted in Maranello by Sky Sport’s Carlo Vanzini with team principal Frederic Vasseur, in which the Frenchman suggested that the new season will be approached with a deliberately low profile.
Fred Vasseur’s words
Prompted during the conversation by Carlo Vanzini, who remarked, “But during the winter you mustn’t say anything…” in reference to expectations for the upcoming season, Frederic Vasseur replied: “Honestly, it’s a different approach. Last year, when you started the season, you already had Abu Dhabi 2024 in mind. This year, instead, nobody knows. We can spend time discussing, developing strategies or talking about others, but the truth is that we don’t know. That means I don’t want to waste energy doing that, but I want to focus on the team, on the development of the car, on the collaboration between Lewis and Charles, and try to get the maximum out of what we have.”
The words of the Ferrari team principal clearly outline a change in philosophy. Rather than fueling expectations months in advance, the Scuderia aims to channel all available resources into concrete work at the factory and on track. Development, internal cohesion, and the working relationship between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc are identified as the true priorities.
After a season in which optimism failed to translate into results, Ferrari appear determined to let performance speak for itself. Fred Vasseur’s message is clear and measured: no promises, no wasted energy, and a renewed focus on fundamentals as the team prepares for the challenges of 2026.
