Ferrari decided to make a special gift for Carlo Vanzini to show its closeness to the Sky Sport commentator at a time when he clearly needs affection and support. The wave of love received by Vanzini after the announcement of his illness has been truly remarkable. From fellow journalists to members of Formula 1 teams, everyone has tried, and continues to try, to stand by the Sky Sport voice as he faces his battle against pancreatic cancer.
The news was shared by the Italian journalist himself, just on the eve of the final race of the season. More attentive fans had noticed for some time that something did not seem right, and in order to respond to the many questions he had received, the iconic Italian Formula One commentator decided to explain the journey of the past months and the challenges that now lie ahead of him.
A touching gesture from Ferrari
In January, Carlo Vanzini will in fact undergo a delicate surgical operation aimed at removing the tumour that has affected him in recent months. For this reason, following the warm farewell he received from his Sky Sport team at the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Ferrari also wanted to demonstrate its closeness and solidarity with the commentator.
As reported by Vanzini himself in a post published on Instagram, the Scuderia from Maranello gifted him a shirt signed by all members of the team, featuring several clearly visible messages of encouragement reading “Forza Carlo”. The shirt was personally presented by Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur, who also accompanied the former skier on a visit between Fiorano and Maranello, making the gesture even more meaningful.
