Ferrari celebrated a historic milestone at the 2026 British Grand Prix, securing the 250th Formula 1 victory in the team’s legendary history. Remarkably, both Ferrari’s first and its latest Grand Prix triumph came at Silverstone, as Charles Leclerc delivered a commanding performance to claim the Scuderia’s second victory of the season.
After an excellent start, the two Ferrari drivers controlled the race from lights out to the chequered flag, reinforcing the belief that the disappointing Austrian Grand Prix had been nothing more than a temporary setback. With victories now achieved in both Barcelona and Silverstone, Ferrari has firmly established itself as a genuine contender once again.
Speaking to Sky Sport F1 after the British Grand Prix, Ferrari chairman John Elkann, who travelled to Silverstone to support Frédéric Vasseur’s team, reflected on the significance of the result and what it means for Ferrari’s future.
John Elkann celebrates Ferrari’s 250th Formula 1 victory
Elkann began by highlighting the symbolism of Ferrari’s latest milestone. While the 250th victory is an extraordinary achievement in itself, he stressed that it also serves as a reminder of the philosophy that continues to drive the Scuderia forward: unity between Maranello, the race team, the drivers and the management.
“This is Ferrari’s 250th victory, and the very first one also came here at Silverstone. That shows just how important this moment is for us, for our history and for our future,” said Elkann.
“When everyone at Ferrari works together, the drivers can deliver performances like these. Charles drove a fantastic race, and Lewis also had a very strong weekend. When the entire team in Maranello and everyone here at the circuit work together like this, great things happen.”
Ferrari’s teamwork delivers another breakthrough
Ferrari arrived at Silverstone far from being considered the favourite. In fact, many expected the circuit to expose the weaknesses of the SF-26. Instead, the preparation carried out back at the factory, combined with the work completed throughout the weekend at the track, allowed Charles Leclerc to rediscover the confidence in his car that had been missing for several races.
Lewis Hamilton also enjoyed another highly competitive weekend. His race was compromised more by the decision to finish behind the Safety Car than by the five-second penalty he received after the start for a false start, leaving Ferrari wondering what might have been in the battle for second place.
Elkann concluded by emphasizing the importance of maintaining belief, determination and unity throughout the organization.
“It’s important to always give everything you’ve got. It’s important to believe, and it’s important that our fans continue to stand by us. The desire to succeed has always existed within the team, both in Maranello and here at the track. When we’re able to work together as one, we achieve great things. We’ve done it before, we’re doing it now, and we’ll continue to do it in the future.”
