Ferrari has claimed the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship, completing an extraordinary season and returning to dominance in both the Constructors’ and Drivers’ standings, thanks to the trio of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Antonio Giovinazzi.
The Ferrari 499P, already a three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, brought back to Maranello a trophy that had been missing for 53 years. The car showed maturity and control throughout the final round of the season at Sakhir Circuit in Bahrain, holding off strong competition from Porsche and Cadillac.
The #51 car, which had already stood twice on the top step of the podium this season, finished the 8 Hours of Bahrain in fourth place — a result more than enough to secure both world titles. The race victory, meanwhile, went to the #7 Toyota driven by Kamui Kobayashi, Nyck De Vries — who will return to Formula E in less than a month — and Mike Conway.
With this triumph, the Italian marque ends a drought that had lasted for over half a century. The last world endurance championship victory dated back to 1972, achieved with the legendary Ferrari 312 PB. The success of the 499P project — launched only three years ago — represents the perfect closing of a circle, symbolizing Ferrari’s unmatched technical excellence and racing spirit.
Elkann: “A dream come true for Ferrari”
After the race, Ferrari President John Elkann expressed his pride in the team’s remarkable achievement. “This milestone fills us with pride and represents the realization of a dream, the culmination of a journey that began in 2022, when we decided to return to the top class of endurance racing. This path has seen us win three consecutive editions of Le Mans, and today we are celebrating not only two world titles but also the strength of a team that has worked as one body, facing all the challenges of endurance racing with the humility to learn and constantly improve,” said John Elkann.
Celebrations from Fiorano to São Paulo
Meanwhile, in Fiorano, Ferrari fans flooded the streets to celebrate the victory, while Charles Leclerc was securing third place in qualifying for the São Paulo Grand Prix. The achievement also drew praise from Frédéric Vasseur, Ferrari’s Formula 1 team principal, who congratulated the endurance department for its success. “We are very happy about Ferrari’s victory in Bahrain. In the end, we are all one company, and we want to send them our full support from São Paulo. We have a great collaboration, and I’m more than pleased with this result. Now we’ll push like crazy — it’s positive energy for us too, and we really need it,” said Fred Vasseur.
