After a complicated Sprint session, Ferrari came back to life during qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix — and according to some, the credit goes entirely to Charles Leclerc.
The Saturday morning session at Interlagos had left many Ferrari fans feeling uncertain. After the strong performances seen in Mexico and Austin, Ferrari seemed to struggle during the Sprint Race at the Brazilian GP. However, the team managed to recover brilliantly in qualifying, led by an almost flawless Charles Leclerc.
The Monegasque driver secured third place in Q3, finishing behind Lando Norris and Kimi Antonelli. It was a result that brought renewed hope to both Charles Leclerc and the Scuderia ahead of a race that traditionally delivers plenty of action. That’s why a strong start will be crucial, as Ferrari aims to keep up with Mercedes, who currently hold second place in the Constructors’ Championship.

But what exactly was behind Ferrari’s clear step forward between the two Saturday sessions at Interlagos? According to some, especially considering Lewis Hamilton’s elimination in Q2, the improvement was largely down to Charles Leclerc. “Leclerc’s third place says a lot about the turning point. Ferrari found the right setup they had been chasing. He himself mentioned gaining around a tenth and a half, which in modern Formula 1 is quite a big step forward between sessions,” said Matteo Bobbi after qualifying at the Interlagos circuit.
“It looks like they finally hit the right setup window. And as we saw in Austin, a disappointing qualifying performance doesn’t necessarily compromise the race. That’s why we can expect Ferrari to be more competitive in race pace than what we’ve seen so far,” added the Sky Sport commentator.
