For the 2021 Styrian Grand Prix, Scuderia Ferrari brought the two wing solutions that were also seen at the Paul Ricard circuit last week: the Maranello team in France had focused on the most recent version, the one with the largest curl on the outer curb of the side bulkhead, while both solutions available had the modification to the last additional flap.
Compared to Baku, in fact, the last portion of the profile, the one closest to the side strip, has a reduced section. The aerodynamic engineers of the Italian side realized that when the adjustable flap was increased in incidence, there was a loss of downforce in the rear, creating imbalances for the SF21.
With the new solution, however, the negative effects should have been solved. We will have confirmation on the Austrian circuit this race weekend where the Scuderia plans to make people forget about the poor performance of the Reds seen at Le Castellet due to the bad management of the tires in the race, given that the SF21 went into crisis both with the mediums and with the hards.
