Tomorrow will mark the official unveiling of the Ferrari SF-24, with many expected innovations on the new car. The moment has come; the revelation of the latest creation from the Scuderia is just around the corner. In Maranello, the team is determined to return to constant competition for victory. To achieve this, the engineers at Ferrari have made drastic changes to last year’s car. As stated by Fred Vasseur himself, the new single-seater will be 95% different from the SF-23. Let’s take a look at the possible previews of the Ferrari SF-24.
Suspension
Ferrari will not change the layout of its suspension, which will remain push rod at the front and pull rod at the rear. What will change is the geometry of the attachments to the frame. This will achieve an anti-dive effect at the front and anti-squat at the rear. The goal is to limit load transfers and have a more stable platform. We have already seen this approach on the Haas VF24, but surely, on the Ferrari, we will witness a further step in development.
Revamped Side Pods on the Ferrari SF-24
After several months of anticipation and discussions, what is certain is that the Ferrari SF-24 will feature completely revamped side pods. The new chassis has allowed for the rearrangement of components to adopt new shapes. The anti-intrusion bulkhead will be integrated into the frame, thus freeing up a lot of space for the underframe. This had already been one of the significant limitations of the SF-23. Presumably, we will see something similar to what was seen on the Haas. There should also be a tray for the separation between external and internal flow.
Engine Cover and Cooling
The engine cover of the Ferrari SF-24 is also expected to be very different from the previous year. There will no longer be a shape adhering to the exhaust, but a much larger and flatter opening at the top. This will change the way air is directed towards the rear wing and the beam wing, hoping to achieve better efficiency.
Both on Sauber and Haas, both powered by Ferrari, we have seen an air scoop of larger dimensions than last year. This is probably because the gearbox radiator has been moved higher and therefore requires more intake flow. If two clues make a proof, then it is plausible to think that the SF-24 will also adopt this solution. However, it is not to be ruled out that Maranello has decided to organize the cooling system differently.
Other previews from recent weeks have announced a change in the front wing of the Ferrari SF-24. The direction is that seen on the Red Bull RB19, and a preview has arrived thanks to Haas. On the Maranello team’s new car, we will see a further evolution, but the goal is always to gain efficiency.
The new Ferrari will not be a copy of the Red Bull, but it will have its own innovative solutions. The appointment is set for tomorrow to discover the new Ferrari Formula 1 car. Here you can find all the information on the schedule and how to follow the event.
