Ferrari will introduce updates from the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix onwards and plans to make an important step forward with the F1-75 which already impressed in the first two races of the 2022 Formula 1 season, in Bahrain and at the Jeddah circuit. This does not mean that the Maranello technicians are not working to achieve two main objectives: to improve the efficiency of the F1-75 car and eliminate porpoising, the annoying bouncing that occurs at high speeds with stationary forces.
While waiting for a new floor designed specifically to limit the bouncing that currently forces the engineers to increase the distance between the floor and ground, which causes a loss of aerodynamic load, the Scuderia has seen fit to use the nose of Charles Leclerc’s F1-75 car as an instrument to gather important data.
The leader of the 2022 Formula 1 world championship, will have the task of carrying out aerodynamic tests during the first free practice session at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne. Even the less experienced eye cannot escape the fact that Ferrari has mounted on the F1-75 a series of laser sensors capable of precisely measuring the distance between the ground and the front wing.
Usually, the team uses such as a sensor under the body (it is recognizable even with the car in motion because you can observe a laser beam pointing on the asphalt) or on the tip of the nose: on this occasion, however, the Maranello team has decided to take it one step further by setting up five laser sensors.

In addition to the one in the center of the nose, there are also two on the outside of each side bulkhead, to measure the height variations of the car as the load varie. The simple fact that the laser camera supports are not improvised, but rather designed and created for this particular purpose means that such measuring instruments will also soon become an important element in the development of ground-effect single-seaters.
