The Singapore Grand Prix has already started for Scuderia Ferrari. More precisely, it has been running for a week, that is, since Carlos Sainz drove the F1-75 car at the Fiorano circuit for a filming day: the Italian side was able to run on the track for 15 km in order to gather promotional videos with the new Bitdefender logo on the car, as the Romanian cybersecurity technology company became the latest partner to join the Maranello team.
However, as recently reported by the Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport, the Fiorano tests have served also for a much more important purpose: Ferrari mounted a new floor version which will also be brought to Singapore next weekend and which, the Maranello technicians hope will be able to give an important answer and a solution for the difficulties created by the well-known Technical Directive 39/22. The new floor specification should therefore be a component aimed more for the future than just the Marina Bay event.
“Ferrari then took advantage of the 15 km filming day granted for promotional activities related to the launch of a new sponsor (Bitdefender) […] and last week they ran Carlos Sainz in Fiorano to take a look at how a new floor was behaving. A legal run and one which is allowed for all teams” – wrote Fulvio Solms for Corriere dello Sport – “This floor was brought together with the recent one used from the French Grand Prix onwards: a comparative test will be carried out tomorrow in the first free practice session for the Singapore Grand Prix, but the intention of the Maranello engineers is to use the new element” – the Italian media pointed out.
