Scuderia Ferrari leaves Saudi Arabia with a disappointing total of just 14 points at the Jeddah Corniche circuit, following the sixth place for Carlos Sainz and a seventh with Charles Leclerc. It is clear that there is still work to do to improve the SF-23 performance level especially on Sunday in terms of race pace, given the fact that, as was the case two weeks ago at the Bahrain International Circuit, there was a huge gap between how the Ferrari challenger performed in qualifying and the race.
The task of a leader is also to motivate and keep the group together in times of great difficulty. Frederic Vasseur therefore tries to play the role of a true leader and keep the bar of motivation and attention of his team high after a start of the 2023 Formula One championship that is clearly far below expectations:
“Motivate the group? It’s my job. We must remain calm and united to push hard and improve the current situation. The car has potential, but we are unable to extract it and this must be one of our objectives.” – the French manager made it known, thus continuing to show confidence in the SF-23 project and in the work of his staff.
“Here we didn’t have so many balance problems and in fact qualifying didn’t go badly. The problem is that we have to try to show the value of the car for longer. However, the potential which is there there may not be enough to catch up with Red Bull.” – admitted the Ferrari team principal at the end of the 2023 Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, urging his team members not to get discouraged and continue working hard to show the ‘true’ value of the SF-23. How can Ferrari get out of the crisis? One of the solutions is definitely to focus on development updates.

“Now we have to understand what we are doing well and how to improve. In Australia we will have some new parts that can help us, but we have to push in the factory, all together, to solve our problems”. In Fred Vasseur’s mind, the way of working is very clear and Ferrari must not be influenced by others. “Looking at the gap with others would be the wrong way to work. We have to look at ourselves and focus on what we can do to improve. The car must always be developed, in all areas. Now let’s go back to Maranello, analyze the data and prepare ourselves as best as possible for Melbourne.” – Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur concluded.
