Ferrari Fans Show Their Loyalty to Lewis Hamilton as Tifosi Pack Imola Grandstands with Flags and Cut-Outs
Lewis Hamilton is set to experience his first race in front of the passionate Ferrari faithful at Imola, and the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix could prove pivotal for both the seven-time world champion and the struggling Maranello team.
Ferrari’s 2025 campaign has fallen well short of expectations. Despite Charles Leclerc’s podium in Jeddah and Hamilton’s Sprint victory in Shanghai followed by a third-place finish in Miami, the team has failed to consistently deliver on race day. Ferrari arrives at their first home Grand Prix of the season languishing in fourth in the constructors’ standings, trailing McLaren by a substantial 152 points. Last weekend’s underwhelming performance in Miami, where Ferrari finished behind Williams in the race, only compounded the frustration.
Team morale at Maranello is undeniably low as engineers and leadership scramble to address persistent weaknesses in the SF-25. Team principal Frédéric Vasseur has acknowledged that the Briton is finding it difficult to settle when the car underperforms. The Imola weekend represents a prime opportunity to inject momentum into their faltering season.
A strong showing on home soil would energize both the team and the loyal Tifosi. But another underwhelming result could draw visible frustration from the grandstands, as Ferrari fans are never shy in voicing their disappointment.
Tifosi Back Hamilton with Bold Visual Support at Imola
Despite mixed early results, Hamilton has received a wave of visual support from Ferrari fans at Imola. Although he hasn’t finished higher than fifth in a Grand Prix this season, the British driver continues to attract admiration for his efforts in red.
Ahead of the race weekend, Hamilton praised the dedication of the Ferrari fanbase, stating they were long overdue success. In return, sections of the Tifosi have celebrated their new star with striking tributes throughout the circuit. According to The Mirror’s Daniel Moxon, Imola’s grandstands have been decorated with giant cut-outs of Hamilton’s face and enormous flags bearing his iconic number 44. Fans have also been spotted wearing personalized hats and shirts in his honor, reflecting a groundswell of belief in his future with the Scuderia.
Italian racing driver Davide Valsecchi has suggested that opinions among the Tifosi are split—some are frustrated with Hamilton’s results so far, while others remain optimistic about his long-term impact. Moxon noted that fans he spoke to still believe that Hamilton and Ferrari are a pairing with great potential and that this new chapter can yet yield success.
Can Ferrari Deliver a Podium at Imola?
Ferrari’s hopes for a turnaround hinge on the upgrades brought to Imola. While the team remains optimistic about the untapped potential of the SF-25, they urgently need to demonstrate performance gains. Team boss Fred Vasseur continues to back the car’s development path, insisting that Ferrari hasn’t given up on this season.
However, Sky Sports’ Ted Kravitz expressed some skepticism, indicating that the new upgrades at Imola were underwhelming compared to what he expected from the Scuderia.
Even so, a podium finish this weekend could provide a much-needed morale boost for both the team and its supporters after a turbulent start to the year. While McLaren holds a clear advantage in outright pace and appears difficult to challenge for pole or the win, there is hope that Leclerc and Hamilton can maximize the car’s new parts and secure a top-three finish on home soil.
A strong result at Imola could be the catalyst Ferrari desperately needs—and if the overwhelming show of support from the Tifosi is anything to go by, Hamilton won’t be short on encouragement as he looks to bounce back.
