While the Formula 1 circus took a short break from its demanding intercontinental schedule, work behind the scenes never slowed down. Inside the factories, engineers, mechanics, and drivers worked almost non-stop to improve the latest generation of cars. Several teams also took advantage of filming days to test new components ahead of upcoming races, and already in the Miami paddock it is possible to spot cars featuring refined and updated solutions.
In Italy, all eyes are firmly focused on Ferrari, which arrives in the United States with a series of important upgrades. Among them is the highly anticipated “Macarena wing,” a development that has generated significant curiosity in recent days.
“The team is coming off a filming day at Monza where everything went according to plan. The engineers have made structural changes to the rear wing, and today it was fitted on both drivers’ cars. But there is more: the front wing has also been completely revised in the area of the endplates, and there is a new floor,” Matteo Bobbi explained on Sky Sport.
However, it remains unclear which components will ultimately be used throughout the race weekend. The Sprint format allows for only a single Free Practice session, significantly limiting the time available for evaluation. In an effort to support teams in gathering sufficient data, the FIA has extended the session by an additional 30 minutes, bringing the total to 90 minutes. Even so, it is not guaranteed that this will be enough for teams to fully assess and optimize all the new parts introduced in Miami.
