With his third place in the 2021 Brazil Sprint Race at the Interlagos circuit last Saturday, Carlos Sainz has become the first Scuderia Ferrari driver to score a “podium” in these qualifying races, which were introduced this year, with three trial events that will determine the future of the format. Therefore, the teams who have finished in the top three on Saturday during this new format have now become four.
And speaking of Scuderia Ferrari, with the sixth place in the 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, Carlos Sainz has matched Sebastian Vettel’s personal best record of consecutive races without a DNF for the Maranello team: 19. The two are tied in second position, while Fernando Alonso is out in front with 29 consecutive finishes for Ferrari.
At the same time, Carlos Sainz has the longest active points scoring streak this year, with 12 consecutive points finishes during the 2021 Formula One season. A solid performance for the Spanish driver in his first year alongside Scuderia Ferrari, in the hope that the Maranello team will be able to provide Carlos and his teammate Charles Leclerc with a car capable of challenging for much more ambitious targets in the 2022 Formula 1 championship.
