“Contrary to what has been reported, it is absolutely not expected that the staff of the Ferrari team leaving for Australia will make any preventive measures of isolation”. As reported by the ANSA agency, the Maranello team makes an official statement regarding the coronavirus emergency, in view of the trip to Australia where the 2020 Formula 1 World Championship will start on the 15th and for which the Maranello team currently confirms its presence in Melbourne:
“Despite knowing that the situation is constantly evolving, on the front of the departure for Australia / Bahrain, there are currently no contraindications from any of the entities with which we are in constant contact, namely the FIA, Formula 1, the authorities both in Italy and in the countries in question: therefore, at the moment our departure is confirmed.” – Scuderia Ferrari informs.
At the same time, Australian Grand Prix organisers insist the opening round of the Formula One season will go ahead as scheduled.
The race is due to take place on March 15, with the majority of F1 personnel set to travel to Melbourne at the latter end of this week.
In a statement, Australian Grand Prix chief executive Andrew Westacott said: “We are all systems go. At this stage there is no indication of further travel bans, nor is there any indication that Formula One and the teams will not be arriving as usual. Formula One has again confirmed overnight that the Australian Grand Prix is going ahead.” – he concluded.
