The Formula 1 circus is back in action at Marina Bay for the Singapore Grand Prix, with all eyes on McLaren’s drivers aiming to bounce back after a disappointing weekend in Baku. Ferrari is also generating plenty of interest, as the team has high hopes for this street circuit. Below is the live recap of the FP2 session for the Singapore GP, starting from 14:50 local time.
A challenging street circuit
The Marina Bay track remains one of the most demanding on the F1 calendar for both drivers and teams. Despite being a night race, humidity and high temperatures add extra complexity to the teams’ work. In qualifying and the race, successfully managing track conditions and interruptions will be crucial for optimal performance.
Recap of FP1
Earlier in the day, FP1 took place under very different conditions from what the teams will encounter for the rest of the weekend. The circuit is expected to evolve significantly, with grip levels improving over the course of the event—unless rain arrives and changes the scenario entirely.
FP1 ran smoothly for most teams until the chequered flag. The only exception was Alex Albon, who participated only in the opening minutes before facing a rear brake issue. Overall, teams tested all tyre compounds, with drivers completing multiple laps to gain confidence navigating the tight walls of Marina Bay.
Fernando Alonso finished FP1 at the top of the timesheets, with Charles Leclerc in second and Max Verstappen third. Lewis Hamilton’s fourth-place result further highlights Ferrari’s strong Friday form, as the team consistently positions itself among the front runners early in the weekend. In the final minutes, the usual long runs were carried out, although they offered limited insight under these conditions.
