The most notable aspect for F1 experts and analysts during pre-season testing session at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir was definitely the Ferrari SF-24 single-seater, signaling a comprehensive change in design concept compared to the previous Formula One championship.
This shift in concept not only became evident on paper but was also showcased on the Bahrain track.
During testing, the Maranello team’s car demonstrated improved tire management, eliminating the concerns observed in the previous model. With the harder compounds (C2 and C3), the SF-24 displayed excellent balance.
In the extended simulations, there was only a marginal performance loss attributable to tire degradation, indicating a contrasting behavior compared to the prior car.
Scuderia Ferrari’s new model is perceived as more predictable, particularly in corners, leaving Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz impressed. The Monegasque driver remarked that it provides a solid baseline for Ferrari’s development, eliminating uncertainties that emerged after the pre-season test in Sakhir 12 months ago.
