Immediately following the official presentation, which takes place next Tuesday, Scuderia Ferrari will give the reportedly lighter and more powerful SF-23 challenger a run around at their home track in Fiorano. While the SF-23 single-seater will do the first few laps in Fiorano immediately after the launch, the real shakedown will take place in Imola.
There are just a few days left until the Maranello team will officially launch the challenger they are confident will give Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz the possibility of fighting for the Formula 1 titles, as the SF-23 has the clear goal of building on the F1-75’s strengths, which finished in second place in last year’s Constructors’ championship.
While the SF-23 car is of course still being kept behind the red velvet rope of Maranello, several Italian news media outlets are informing based on inside sources in Maranello that the Scuderia is cautiously optimistic after seeing the encouraging early data and positive feedback from the simulator, ahead of the official winter pre-season testing session which takes place later this month.
A few weeks ago, the Italian version of the Motorsport website informed that the SF-23 challenger would in fact be “one second faster” than the F1-75, while German magazine Auto Motor und Sport now confirms that the new car will be “lighter, more reliable, aerodynamically more efficient and with more engine power”.
AMuS also released an interesting update regarding Ferrari’s plans for the first runs of the SF-23 car. The German publication informs that the single-seater which will be launched on February 14 will then immediately be given a run out on the Italian side’s home track in Fiorano before a full shakedown (up to 100 km allowed by the current rules) is scheduled to take place at the Imola circuit.

Scuderia Ferrari confirmed a few days ago that the single-seater for the 2023 Formula 1 world championship would be called the SF-23, which marks a return to its recent naming convention after the previous season’s F1-75 that was chosen in order to commemorate 75 years since Enzo Ferrari first fired up a Ferrari Formula 1 engine.

The SF-23 will now become the first of Frederic Vasseur’s reign since the French managed signed for the Maranello team after his time with Sauber Alfa Romeo. Despite the fact that he replaced Mattia Binotto at the top of Ferrari’s Formula 1 Racing Division, it is clear that the key decisions in terms of design and development for the SF-23 were made by the Italian manager in the second part of the 2022 Formula One season.
