Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in doubt
Formula 1 is waiting to understand if and how it will be possible to hold the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend. The situation throughout the region is dramatically affected by the weather conditions: many areas have experienced flooding, and rivers are under close observation, starting with the Santerno River, which flows through Imola, right behind the paddock.
Access to the circuit blocked
Yesterday, the professionals present at the circuit were asked to leave the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, in what was effectively a precautionary evacuation. Today, teams and journalists have been advised not to go to the track for the usual accreditation procedures. This directive came directly from the FIA press office, which announced further updates based on information provided by local authorities.
Let’s help Faenza
Among the cities most affected is undoubtedly Faenza, known to Formula 1 enthusiasts as the home of Scuderia AlphaTauri, formerly Toro Rosso and previously Minardi. The Italian team is strongly connected and integrated into the local area and is anxiously and actively experiencing the current situation.
This morning, demonstrating the team’s concern for the local community, the official social media channels of the team shared information on how to make donations to help the local community. The municipality of Faenza has opened a fundraising campaign with the purpose of “Emergency Donation for the 2023 Flood.”

Support from Tsunoda and Ferrari
Support for the local population has also come from the team’s lead driver, Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda, who moved to Italy last year to be closer to his team. “I really hope that everyone living in Emilia-Romagna stays safe in the coming days,” the message posted by the AlphaTauri representative. Support has also been expressed by Scuderia Ferrari, which has an extremely close and special bond with the Imola track: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of Emilia-Romagna and Marche as they deal with the destruction caused by the heavy rain and flooding currently affecting the area,” was the message published by the Maranello team on its official social media accounts.
