Ferrari is ready for the Japanese GP, with Frédéric Vasseur determined to gain a better understanding of the SF-25. The Prancing Horse’s car holds the potential of a true frontrunner, but unlocking the rear suspension remains key. Initial adjustments are expected at Suzuka, with further updates planned for Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
The secret lies in the rear. The real Ferrari SF-25 is the one seen during the Shanghai Sprint Race. It was the car that, in the expert hands of Lewis Hamilton, dominated the competition, claiming a resounding victory in Saturday’s race. The goal in the coming rounds will be to bring that ideal setup closer to the choices made for the Grand Prix, where fuel load plays a crucial role.
One of the steps Fred Vasseur’s team may take as early as Suzuka is introducing a new bump stop or adjusting the springs, as explained in this article. The Japanese circuit could prove to be well-suited to the characteristics of the Maranello-built car, which is more concerned about Bahrain, where McLaren could excel.
Fred Vasseur: “We must harness the SF-25’s potential”
Discussing the team’s objectives for Suzuka, the Ferrari team principal said: “The circuit is particularly demanding for both the cars and the drivers, who love the challenge posed by its iconic corners,” explained Frédéric Vasseur. “Now more than ever, the whole team must stay focused on the goal of putting Charles and Lewis in the best possible position to fully exploit the SF-25’s potential, something we’ve only managed to do on Fridays and during the Sprint in China so far.” – the French manager pointed out.
“In Formula 1, details make the difference—from preparing for the weekend at the factory to executing on track and adapting to changing conditions during the race. Once we fine-tune everything, we’ll have a clearer idea of where we stand.” – the Ferrari team boss concluded ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix weekend.
