On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Scuderia Ferrari will be on track at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona for the Pirelli pre-season testing session, working with the F1-75 and SF-23 single-seaters.
Alongside Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, Oliver Bearman, recently appointed as the third driver, and Arthur Leclerc, development driver, will also be present. This morning, the younger of the two Monegasque brothers was behind the wheel of the 2022 car, while Carlos Sainz once again took the helm of the SF-23.
As it is a car from past seasons, it is challenging to grasp the true significance of the lap times that have been posted, and perhaps they are of secondary importance even for the team. For the drivers, the crucial aspect is to warm up for the Fiorano shakedown and the initial tests in Bahrain. Pirelli, on the other hand, aims to explore new methods to avoid overheating in the 2025 tires, the last ones before the switch to 16-inch rims. Speaking of numbers, this morning, the best time for the Spanish driver was 1:16.191, while the young Monegasque recorded 1:19.022 as the fastest lap.
In the afternoon, Carlos Sainz will give way to his Maranello teammate, Charles Leclerc, who will complete the first day of Pirelli tyres testing at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.
