Ferrari reportedly ready to part ways with Lewis Hamilton after 2026 F1 season. Ferrari has reportedly decided not to renew Lewis Hamilton’s contract beyond 2026.

Ferrari has reportedly already made its decision regarding Lewis Hamilton’s contract, which is set to expire in 2026. Should the seven-time world champion leave, the team already has a plan in place for his successor.

It’s now evident to everyone that Hamilton’s first year in red has not met the expectations that surrounded his arrival. For this reason, Ferrari is already evaluating its future options, as the British driver’s current deal runs until the end of the 2026 Formula 1 season.

When the move was first announced, there was a lot of speculation about the clauses included in the agreement between Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari. Some sources suggested that the former Mercedes driver, who races with the number 44, might have the option to extend his contract for 2027. However, this extension would depend heavily on Ferrari’s performance under the new regulations that will take effect with the next generation of Formula 1 cars.

But Ferrari may have already made its choice

According to a report from ESPN following the Mexican Grand Prix weekend, Ferrari may have already made up its mind. The American sports network claims that the Maranello team was particularly impressed by Oliver Bearman’s performance at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

As a result, Ferrari may have already decided on its 2027 driver lineup — with Lewis Hamilton expected to leave and make room for the young Haas driver. The Scuderia reportedly does not intend to offer Lewis Hamilton a contract renewal, especially considering the difficulties he has encountered during his debut season with the Italian team.

That said, much will still depend on the results of the 2026 season. If Lewis Hamilton manages to prove he still possesses the speed that once made him one of the greatest drivers in motorsport history, his chances of remaining with Ferrari could increase significantly. On the other hand, if the British driver continues to struggle with the new generation of cars, his departure would appear almost inevitable.

Good. He should’ve never have been signed in the first place, there was absolutely no justifiable reason to get rid of Sainz. Leclerc and Sainz were an excellent driver pairing who complimented each other well, and there was great harmony in the team.

Anyone who was paying attention to Lewis’s performances over the past several seasons didn’t have any ‘expectations’. He’s clearly been in decline and George Russell had the beating of him. The only people setting unrealistic expectations were the F1 media, who were in a collective state of mass hysteria and opted to generate so much hype they decided to ignore reality.

I mean give 7x champ who’s had good cars a dogshit car and watch him struggle. Give a guy who’s never driven anything close to competitive a car that beats the entire midfield and watch him blossom in the best machinery he’s ever experienced. You can’t compare them at Mercedes. Lewis had the worst car he’s ever driven and expected more to come. George had the best car he’s ever driven and he’s still got no idea what is like to drive a good car. No wonder he got more out of it.

It’s hardly Hamiltons fault that the Scuderia have failed to perform. Sure, LeClerc has got podiums, but there’s no doubt performance preference has been in favour of him and his side of the garage.
Hamilton was brought in to make changes. To change the team from an alsorans to a Championship winning Team. When they’ve listened, they’ve improved. When they haven’t, they’ve done worse.
There’s nothing wrong with Hamiltons driving. There’s everything wrong with Ferrari. Eighteen years with no Championship tells its own story. If they won’t look inwards failure is inevitable.

From the outside nothing is “obvious” anyone who thinks they can look in from the outside and tell who is driving well and why has never been involved in motorsport…..
