Scuderia Ferrari HP has announced the renewal of its long-standing technical partnership with Garrett Motion, confirming that the collaboration will continue into the next Formula 1 regulatory cycle starting in 2026. The agreement reinforces the continuity of a crucial technical relationship at a time when Formula 1 is preparing for one of the most significant transformations in its modern history.
Under the terms of the renewed deal, Garrett Motion will continue to develop and supply the next-generation turbo system for the Ferrari power unit. This component will play a central role within the new regulatory framework, which will feature a revised hybrid architecture and an even greater emphasis on electrification.
The partnership between Ferrari and Garrett Motion dates back to 2014, coinciding with the introduction of the turbo-hybrid era in Formula 1. Since then, the collaboration has evolved into an increasingly close technical relationship, built on shared expertise and the continuous development of advanced forced-induction technologies.
Ferrari’s new agreement that safeguards its future engine
Over more than a decade, Garrett’s experience in the field of turbochargers has contributed to the creation of power units capable of meeting the extreme demands of top-level motorsport. Energy efficiency, effective energy recovery and immediate throttle response have been the cornerstones of this shared technical journey.
Commenting on the renewal was Scuderia Ferrari HP team principal Frédéric Vasseur, who underlined the importance of the partnership.
“Garrett has been a trusted partner for many years, and its technology has consistently supported us in achieving our objectives,” explained the French manager, as reported by the Maranello team’s official website.
“With the major technical challenge represented by the 2026 regulations ahead of us, we are pleased to continue this collaboration and to rely on Garrett’s experience as we enter a new chapter in Formula 1.”
The renewal of the partnership with Garrett Motion sends a clear signal of continuity for Ferrari as it prepares to tackle one of the most complex regulatory changes of recent years. Working with a partner already fully integrated into the power unit development process allows the Maranello-based team to focus on performance optimisation in a technical environment that will demand precision, reliability and innovation from the very first laps on track.
The strategic extension of Ferrari’s partnership with Garrett Motion underscores the Scuderia’s commitment to technical stability as they transition into the high-stakes 2026 engine era. By securing the expertise of a world leader in turbocharger technology, Ferrari ensures that the heart of its next-generation power unit is built on a foundation of proven reliability and cutting-edge energy recovery efficiency. While the 2026 rules present a clean slate for many, Maranello’s choice to maintain this critical technical alliance suggests they are prioritizing refined evolution over radical shifts in their supply chain. As the development race intensifies, this continuity could be the decisive factor in ensuring the SF-26 power unit delivers the immediate performance needed to challenge for the title from the opening round.
Ferrari’s renewed deal with Garrett Motion therefore provides the technical security and specialized hardware necessary to master the electrification and turbocharging challenges of the 2026 F1 regulations.
