There have been no official press releases so far, but Velas and Snapdragon have been removed from the list of Scuderia Ferrari sponsors starting with January 1.
It is above all the end of the partnership with Velas that is of interest, because – as can be seen from the cover photo – the logo was displayed on the rear wing of the F1-75 challenger, and therefore was the only one visible from a the rear view position. The collaboration with the Swiss company was announced in December 2021 and evidently has ended due to the crisis that has affected the bitcoin market. The landscape has changed significantly in the last twelve months, with cryptocurrency and blockchains losing their value at a substantial rate. According to the Maranello website website, Velas was a blockchain network “undergoing active efforts of being certified as a Climate Neutral blockchain.”
If last year is anything to go by, the presence of NFTs and crypto companies in Formula 1 are set to diminish in the next championships.
The partnership with Snapdragon also ended after a few months: it had in fact been officially announced last winter. Qualcomm’s branding appeared on the halo of the two F1-75 cars driven by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
