On the eve of the Dutch Grand Prix, Fred Vasseur reveals Ferrari’s key objective for the weekend
The summer break has come to an end, and Formula 1 is back in action at the iconic Zandvoort circuit. For Ferrari, the focus in the Netherlands is on addressing the performance issues that were highlighted during the Hungarian Grand Prix, with Team Principal Fred Vasseur setting a clear target for the weekend. The Scuderia is determined to continue developing and fine-tuning the new rear suspension system, hoping it will help extract stronger performance from the SF-25.
Weather forecasts for the weekend indicate that rain could be a factor, even on race day. So far this season, the Ferrari SF-25 has not shown its best form in wet conditions, and the team is hoping that conditions will improve as the weekend progresses, allowing the drivers to fully exploit the car’s potential.
Fred Vasseur emphasizes the importance of qualifying
Ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, Fred Vasseur highlighted a crucial element for achieving a strong result. According to Fred Vasseur, Ferrari will need to rely on one of the areas that has often been a weak point for the current car: qualifying performance.
“Returning to the track after the summer break has allowed both the team and the drivers to recharge their batteries, preparing us for a very intense final phase of the season. In the Netherlands, we want to continue the positive momentum built over the last few races, where we have made noticeable progress in terms of overall competitiveness,” Fred Vasseur said.
He added, “Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are ready, and the entire team is fully focused, determined to put them in the best possible position to achieve strong results starting from qualifying. At Zandvoort, qualifying is particularly important due to how difficult overtaking can be here.”
If the race takes place in dry conditions, strategy could prove decisive in gaining positions. The Zandvoort circuit demands a medium-to-high level of downforce and places significant stress on the tires. Overtaking will be particularly challenging due to the narrow track layout and the limited number of passing opportunities, making every strategic decision and setup choice crucial for race success.
