Ferrari is preparing an aggressive return from Formula 1’s summer break, with a major aerodynamic package planned for Zandvoort before the second power unit upgrade of the season arrives at Monza. The ADUO-2 specification is expected to deliver around 15 additional horsepower, a performance increase estimated to be worth approximately two tenths of a second around the Italian Grand Prix circuit.
The Maranello team has maintained an intense development programme throughout 2026, showing a pace and consistency of upgrades reminiscent of Red Bull during its strongest periods. Ferrari has introduced new components at numerous race weekends, and that approach is set to continue immediately when the championship resumes after the summer shutdown.
Ferrari plans major SF-26 aerodynamic upgrade at Zandvoort
According to AutoRacer.it, Ferrari will bring an important package of aerodynamic updates to the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. The objective is to improve aerodynamic efficiency while also widening the SF-26’s operating window, giving the team a broader range in which the car can perform effectively.
The Zandvoort package will continue a development strategy that has seen Ferrari regularly introduce changes rather than waiting for a small number of major upgrade events. That philosophy is consistent with the team’s race-by-race approach to SF-26 development during the 2026 season.
ADUO-2 expected to give Ferrari 15 more horsepower at Monza
The next major step will follow at Ferrari’s home Grand Prix at Monza. ADUO-2 is scheduled to arrive after the Scuderia used its first power unit development token at the Austrian Grand Prix earlier in the season.
AutoRacer.it estimates that the second update will provide an increase of 15 horsepower. At Monza, where straight-line performance plays an especially important role, that gain is calculated to be worth around two tenths of a second per lap. Ferrari has also been carrying out reliability testing ahead of the planned Monza engine upgrade.
The combination of the Zandvoort aerodynamic package and the ADUO-2 step underlines how aggressively Ferrari intends to approach the second part of the campaign. Rather than bringing one isolated development, the team has mapped out a sequence of upgrades designed to continue extracting performance from the SF-26.
Austin set to complete Ferrari SF-26 development programme
Ferrari’s final upgrade package of the season is then scheduled for Austin. That development is expected to complete the competitive evolution of the SF-26, a car that has already taken two victories during the 2026 Formula 1 campaign.
Once the Austin package has been introduced, the focus will effectively shift from adding new performance to maximising the specification Ferrari has developed across the season. The three-stage sequence of Zandvoort, Monza and Austin therefore represents the final major development push for the current car.
Frederic Vasseur sees Constructors’ title as Ferrari’s clearer opportunity
After the Hungarian Grand Prix, Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur indicated that the Constructors’ Championship represents a more realistic target for the Scuderia than the Drivers’ title. His assessment places particular importance on Ferrari’s ability to beat Mercedes while also containing a McLaren team expected to mount a strong challenge.
That objective carries considerable historical significance for Maranello. Ferrari has not won the Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship since 2008, meaning success in 2026 would bring an end to a drought stretching back 18 years. Vasseur’s outlook following Hungary therefore gives the team’s aggressive technical programme an especially clear purpose as the season resumes, with the Ferrari team principal already demanding more from the first half of the campaign.
