With the last race of the 2022 Formula 1 world championship, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, this very long and controversial season comes to an end. A Formula 1 campaign that began with the very encouraging prospects for Scuderia Ferrari but which, unfortunately, once again ended with a lot of disappointment and regret for the Maranello team, with only a few race wins that were overshadowed by the records broken by Max Verstappen and his Red Bull team.
A bitter taste remains in the mouth for Ferrari if we look back on how this season unfolded, but it is certainly not a championship all to be thrown away for the historic Italian team: the most successful team in Formula 1 history took a second place finish with Charles Leclerc, who finished behind Max Verstappen after a close battle against the other Red Bull car, beating the competition of Checo Perez. While the Maranello team finished second in the constructors’ standings ahead of the ever fearsome Mercedes.
Despite the official comments through press releases and the various denials from Ferrari, the rumors relating to the future of team principal Mattia Binotto as head of the racing department continue to grow. Changing the Italian manager of Swiss origin, however, considering the delicate moment, may not necessarily be the best solution for the near future.
Nonetheless, it is worth remembering that no company can “escape” from precise dynamics and despite the official confirmation of Mattia Binotto after the rumours in the Italian media suggested that he would be replaced this winter, it is not certain that this scenario cannot in fact happen soon.

The fundamental problem, however, seems to have its roots in a context that has already been widely ascertained during the last decade. We are talking about the absence of the present and his direct involvement: John Elkann, like his predecessors, is unable to follow the work on the track step by step and, at the same time, support Mattia Binotto through constructive discussions.
Reasoning within the current context, we reiterate an idea recently launched by funoanalisitecnica.com: Piero Ferrari as a man who could be the link between the team and the current top management. On the other hand, a man of his experience involved deeply in this world since he was a child could undoubtedly make the difference. Why not?
Another very suggestive possibility concerning the difficult moment of the Prancing Horse would concern the entry into the team of Enzo’s nephew, “Enzino”. This prospect could be evaluated in a very positive way, assuming there is a growth and preparation for such a role as manager of a sports team in the near future.
To conclude, a thought certainly should go to a great driver and champion who retired from racing: Sebastian Vettel. Even for the German, it would not be difficult to imagine, in the not too distant future, a role as adviser (like Niki Lauda) for Ferrari, a team that certainly has remained in his heart…
