Filming Day Ferrari: First On-Track Images of Charles Leclerc Driving the Updated SF-25
Today is the highly anticipated and long-awaited day! The legendary Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team has finally taken to the track at the famous Mugello Circuit located in Italy, showcasing the updated Ferrari SF-25 Formula 1 car, now equipped with the brand-new, extensively developed rear suspension system. This highly important and technically challenging mechanical modification, which Ferrari’s dedicated technical department has been diligently working on for several months, has now officially been installed on the car to be tested on track. Following the various complex issues that initially surfaced during the Bahrain Grand Prix and then became increasingly evident during the Australian Grand Prix and later the Chinese Grand Prix, Ferrari’s technical office, under the precise guidance and leadership of Technical Director Loic Serra, immediately began working intensively on finding a solution to address the problematic ride heights—especially those problems related to the mechanical setup at the rear of the car. The technical director, along with his highly skilled team of engineers and mechanics, has developed this crucial in-season upgrade package, marking an unusual but necessary decision to modify the rear suspension architecture during the ongoing and highly competitive 2025 Formula 1 World Championship season.
As was previously announced by Ferrari, it is Charles Leclerc, the talented and determined Monegasque lead driver for Scuderia Ferrari, who is the first of the two official Ferrari factory drivers to take the updated SF-25 out onto the challenging Mugello track. Charles Leclerc arrived early this morning at the historic Mugello racing circuit and has just commenced his detailed testing program. As is often the case, and true to his approachable personality, Charles was greeted warmly by several passionate and enthusiastic Ferrari tifosi, to whom he kindly offered friendly greetings and signed a few autographs before beginning his on-track work. The Scuderia Ferrari team, which attracted considerable attention and a large crowd of observers yesterday, continues to draw many eager spectators and loyal fans today, who are patiently waiting among the picturesque rolling hills surrounding Mugello as well as outside the circuit gates. Charles Leclerc has now begun his comprehensive work plan aimed at gathering the very first driver feedback and vital telemetry data on the newly developed rear suspension system.
Yesterday, the Ferrari SF-25 was briefly seen on the track driven by reserve and test driver Antonio Giovinazzi; however, on that occasion, the car was still equipped with the older rear suspension specification. During that short session, the car completed just 15 kilometers, mainly to gather baseline reference data that can be directly compared with today’s running using the updated rear suspension configuration. During Charles Leclerc’s initial laps this morning, the SF-25 continues to run with the distinctive and aerodynamic V-Shape rear wing, which remains the aerodynamic configuration most commonly used by Scuderia Ferrari during the opening stages of this 2025 Formula 1 season. Later this afternoon, it will be the turn of Lewis Hamilton, the highly experienced seven-time World Champion and Ferrari’s other official factory driver, to take the wheel of the Ferrari SF-25 and carry out the same thorough testing program as his teammate Charles Leclerc, collecting crucial feedback and detailed performance data on the behavior of the new mechanical upgrade.
