There are five races left from the 2022 Formula 1 world championship, but Red Bull is already one step away from winning both the Drivers and Constructors world titles. The goal for the Austrian team is to celebrate in Japan, home of Honda. The chances of making it four rounds early are very high, while Scuderia Ferrari cannot help but reflect on its mistakes and, for the future, try not to commit other ones.
The work of the historic Italian team continues in view of next season. The regulations will largely be the same, which makes it possible to “review” the weaknesses of the F1-75 car and to improve some essential characteristics of the Maranello team’s project that led to many headaches during the current F1 campaign. Ferrari’s technicians are trying to analyze some solutions brought to the track which will be part of next year’s car.

In this sense, the technicians from Maranello brought a new version of the floor to Suzuka (click here for more details). An update which will not be present on both F1-75 cars, but only on Charles Leclerc’s. During the weekend, in fact, the two Ferrari drivers will run with different specifications, to allow the engineers to better evaluate the actual increase in performance.
Observing the central part of the Modena car we notice some updates. The bulkhead that is responsible for generating the now well-known outwash effect has been modified. The profile has actually undergone a reduction in height. A gearbox that aims to decrease drag and, consequently, increase the efficiency of the car.

With the same work done, a less “bulky” profile can help reduce the aerodynamic penetration coefficient. In addition to this, the keel has also been shortened. The version proposed by the Maranello team is a very particular one, the purpose of which is not yet completely clear at the moment.
Moving our gaze towards the rear area of the F1-75, we notice how the diffuser profile has also undergone a change. Looking at the image, we notice that the diffuser slide appears to be raised. This can be seen by looking at the thickness of the side bulkhead. In addition to this, the slot near the rear wheels has a more advanced location.

Finally, the last change concerns the tie rod which, in the new version, anchors to the floor in a more internal position. A clear sign that the end of the specification has a much lower degree of stall. We can therefore assert that porpoising, the tedious phenomenon that has given almost all the teams a hard time, is being gradually mitigated.
Overall, these measures generate a greater load and, consequently, increase the efficiency of the car, a crucial element for lowering lap times.
