Ferrari seeks redemption
The 2025 Ferrari single-seater, which was launched amid cheers in Piazza Castello in Milan back in February, is not meeting the expectations of the Tifosi. The team has yet to secure a podium in four race weekends: considering that the battle for the top positions was open and included the Prancing Horse, and that this season’s lineup is one of the strongest in Ferrari’s history, this is a statistic that alarms Maranello.
There aren’t many precedents in this regard. Analyzing the first four weekends—taking full-length races into account—2025 marks the ninth season out of 75 in which the team has failed to reach the podium. Should it fail again in Jeddah, it would be the sixth worst start to a season by this metric.
The numbers
These are the years in which Ferrari waited the longest to reach the podium.
| Year | Number of GPs to achieve the first podium |
| 1973 | no podium |
| 1980 | no podium |
| 1981 | 6 |
| 1993 | 6 |
| 2009 | 6 |
| 1975 | 5 |
| 1986 | 5 |
| 2021 | 5 |
| 2025 | ? |
If either Charles Leclerc or Lewis Hamilton finishes in the top three in Jeddah, Ferrari would match the seasons of 1975, 1986, and 2021, and avoid climbing onto the (surely to be avoided) podium of this ranking. Higher up are only the figures from 1973 and 1980: doing worse will, however, be impossible, as these are the only seasons Ferrari ended without a single podium.
