Although the news has not yet been made official by Maranello, Motorsport.com anticipates that Michael’s son will have the opportunity to drive the SF90 car in the tests of Sakhir on April 2, while on the second day the 20-year-old German will drive the Alfa Romeo C38.
While waiting for the official confirmations Motorsport.com has learned that on April 2, in the tests in Bahrain, Mick Schumacher will be on track with the Ferrari SF90. For Michael’s son it will be his baptism in a Formula 1 car. A test with Alfa Romeo is also scheduled for the next day. You can only define intense the period that Mick Schumacher is living, as last weekend he turned twenty, while next weekend he will be waiting for his debut in the FIA Formula 2 championship.
At the end of the weekend Mick will have a free Monday, but in reality he will spend it on the Sakhir circuit, and precisely in the garage of Ferrari. What awaits him will be the work of preparation for a very special appointment: the debut with a Formula 1 car, which will take place the next day on the Ferrari SF90.
Officially no confirmation has yet been received, but the indications (very precise) say that everything is ready for Tuesday after the GP of Bahrain: Schumacher jr. will be on track at the wheel of the ‘red’ for his first test ever at the wheel of a Formula 1.
An important test for Schumy jr. and for Ferrari, both for the technical evaluations and for the great emotional significance. The entry into the Driver Academy of the Prancing Horse, which took place last winter, was a sign of the mutual desire to cooperate, with the Ferrari that sought Mick and the German son of art who did not hesitate to choose the offer of the Maranello team from the many offers which arrived on his desk after the victory obtained last year in the German Formula 3 series.
The Formula 1 test was highly anticipated, and both Ferrari and Schumacher wanted to make the most of the first available opportunity, which was represented by the two days of testing that will be held at the circuit of Sakhir the day after the Grand Prix. After the test with Ferrari, there will be another commitment to Mick, as on Wednesday he will be back on track but at the wheel of the Alfa Romeo C38.
Every opportunity to gain experience behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car is precious, and Alfa Romeo is the easiest option outside of Ferrari itself given the cooperation between the Swiss team and Maranello. It is likely that the Ferrari-Alfa relay will be replicated by Schumacher during the two days of testing scheduled the day after the Spanish Grand Prix at the Catalunya circuit.
