Excessive enthusiasm
There was immense anticipation today at Fiorano as fans gathered to witness the debut of the Ferrari SF-25, the new Prancing Horse single-seater that Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will attempt to bring to the top of Formula 1, aiming for the world titles that have been missing from Maranello for 18 years.
The chance to see the red car on track and the presence of both drivers drew a massive crowd of enthusiasts to the hills surrounding the Fiorano circuit. However, the excitement and the desperate desire to get the best possible view of the track led some to take things too far.
Impromptu lumberjack
As documented by the Instagram channel San Brembo, a fan—clearly unafraid of heights and not particularly concerned with environmental issues—climbed a tree that was apparently blocking part of the view for some spectators and decided to… cut it down. Armed with what appeared to be a portable electric saw about the size of a household drill, he sawed off the top part of the unfortunate tree. The act, which sparked an ovation from the Ferrari fans on-site, quickly went viral online.
Social media backlash
However, most social media comments did not express admiration. On the contrary, many condemned the fan’s behavior, also criticizing the fact that none of the other spectators intervened to stop the impromptu lumberjack. One thing is certain: the Hamilton-Leclerc-SF-25 combination has undoubtedly triggered a wave of collective madness among the most passionate fans.
