Home » Ferrari made progress “in terms of aero, wind tunnel, calculations and tyre management”

Ferrari made progress “in terms of aero, wind tunnel, calculations and tyre management”. Ferrari has underwent an upgrade of its main technical structures.

In view of the 2022 Formula One season, which will mark the beginning of a new era in Formula 1 as a result of the major regulation changes that will lead to completely different cars compared to the previous ones, Scuderia Ferrari has underwent an upgrade of its main technical structures. Among the novelties of the Maranello team there is the new simulator, built in Fiorano, whose effectiveness has already been tested by the Italian side in the penultimate round of the last championship held in Saudi Arabia on the city track of Jeddah.

In this regard, discussing the latest Ferrari improvements, Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto analyzed not only the new simulator but also the other solutions that will be used by the Maranello team to try to continue climbing towards the top of the ranking.

“A lot of effort has been done and a lot of new tools have been developed in terms of simulations,” said Mattia Binotto. “We’ve got a new simulator but it is not the only [improvement], just the tip of the iceberg. In terms of aero, the wind tunnel, calculations in the design and the tyre management, a lot has been done.”

“I’m very happy to see the progress in that aspect. [Simulation and correlation] will be a key for 2022 because as soon as we put the car on the track we will measure the behaviours. What will be important is to understand the car behaviour and address the weaknesses as soon as possible and you can only do that if you’ve got good tools, simulations and correlations.” – Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto concluded.
