The Ferrari Luce has reached its 2026 sales target in record time, with the entire annual allocation for Maranello’s first fully electric car claimed less than two months after its launch. Ferrari had reportedly targeted just under 500 units for the year, with particularly strong demand from China helping the model overcome the considerable criticism surrounding its unconventional design.
The Ferrari Luce was officially presented and launched on 25 May. Within only a few weeks, every unit planned for 2026 had either been reserved or sold, delivering an unexpectedly rapid commercial result for Ferrari’s first step into fully electric mobility.
China has been the principal driver behind that demand, with interest in the new electric model proving especially high in the country. People close to the matter cited by the Financial Times have confirmed that demand quickly exceeded Ferrari’s initial expectations.
Ferrari Luce sales target reached despite design criticism
Ferrari declined to comment officially on the reported sales achievement. However, the company had already scheduled a comprehensive update on the Luce’s market reception and commercial performance as part of its half-year results presentation.
The result represents a notable response to the controversy that followed the car’s unveiling. The Ferrari Luce divided enthusiasts and investors with a visual identity far removed from the marque’s traditional sports cars, attracting numerous negative reviews for its unusual and polarising appearance.
Ferrari Luce specifications, price and design
The Ferrari Luce is a four-door, five-seat saloon designed to offer greater versatility than the brand’s conventional sports cars while maintaining extremely high standards of luxury and performance. Prices begin at €550,000, equivalent to approximately $626,000 at current exchange rates.

As a family-focused model, the Luce represents Ferrari’s first concrete move into purely electric mobility. Its four-door configuration and five-seat cabin give it a markedly different purpose from the two-seat and 2+2 sports cars more traditionally associated with Maranello.
The Luce’s styling was created by former Apple designers Jony Ive and Marc Newson, whose involvement formed an important part of the historic unveiling of Ferrari’s first fully electric model. Their highly innovative approach produced a car that deliberately departs from Ferrari’s established design language.
A senior Ferrari executive explained that the Luce’s extreme lines were largely dictated by specific aerodynamic requirements intended to optimise performance and electric range. The executive added that the public would need time to “digest” this new design language before fully appreciating it.
Strong demand supports Ferrari’s electrification strategy
Reaching the Ferrari Luce sales target so quickly provides an important indication of confidence among some of the company’s most loyal customers as Maranello advances its electrification strategy. The result is particularly significant given the contrasting reactions generated by the car’s design.
Ferrari will continue to monitor deliveries and wider market feedback closely. Further information about production, customer deliveries and the Luce’s financial performance is expected to be disclosed in the company’s forthcoming official reports.
