The seven-time world champion is officially the most marketable athlete on the planet. Ferrari chose him not only for his driving skills but also for his immense commercial and global image power.
Every time Lewis Hamilton speaks, the world listens. Every gesture, every statement, and every social media post sparks reactions, comments, and massive engagement. He is not just a racing driver — he’s a brand of his own: a global figure who transcends Formula 1 and represents a modern model of communication and influence. This has once again been confirmed by the “50 Most Marketable Athletes” ranking published by SportsPro, where the seven-time world champion leads the list ahead of global icons such as Simone Biles, Stephen Curry, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar.
Lewis Hamilton: a global brand
The SportsPro report analyses the market value, brand strength, and economic potential of athletes worldwide. The Ferrari driver achieved an impressive overall score of 96.03, underlining his unmatched commercial status: a 34.30 out of 35 in “brand strength,” which measures the ability to create emotional connection with fans and sponsors; 31.73 out of 35 in “Total Addressable Market,” the metric evaluating the size and engagement of his global fanbase; and a perfect 30 out of 30 in “Economics,” dedicated to the commercial value and growth potential of his personal brand. Hamilton is the fourth athlete in history to top this list twice, following Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Simone Biles.
Behind him in the motorsport world are only Charles Leclerc (25th place) and Lando Norris (41st). This once again confirms how Hamilton remains a unique figure even beyond the racetrack: his appeal extends far beyond sport itself, turning him into a strategic asset for any team that signs him. Ferrari, which strongly pursued his arrival — a decision in which president John Elkann was personally involved and particularly attentive to the commercial potential — has made Hamilton its new figurehead alongside Leclerc. The deal was not only about performance, but also about the awareness of what Hamilton represents in terms of visibility, image, and business reach.
More than a driver: an influencer with purpose
Hamilton’s value cannot be measured merely in terms of experience, lap times, or world titles. It lies in his ability to shape public conversation. Over the years, the British driver has chosen to take a stand on social and ethical causes that few elite athletes have dared to embrace — from fighting racial discrimination to advocating for the LGBTQ+ community and, more recently, expressing support for the Palestinian people. This willingness to speak out has turned him into both a symbol and an ethical brand, perfectly aligned with the values of a generation increasingly aware of and engaged with social issues.
A calculated Ferrari move
By signing Hamilton, Ferrari did not simply acquire a champion — it bought a powerful factory of visibility, influence, and revenue. After nearly a full season dressed in red, one can provocatively wonder whether Hamilton’s media exposure has weighed more heavily than the technical contribution he has brought to Maranello. In today’s Formula 1, where sport and marketing are deeply intertwined, the Ferrari–Hamilton partnership represents a sporting and commercial alliance of global power.
Maranello did not just select the driver who has seven world titles to his name; it chose the Hamilton brand — a multiplier of media value and sponsorship appeal that no other driver in the modern era can match. Even if the on-track results have not been extraordinary so far, the British star continues to deliver immense value away from the circuit.
Hamilton’s legacy beyond the asphalt
Lewis Hamilton will still aim to write one final great chapter in his illustrious career. But even if he falls short of adding another title to his collection, he continues to do what he has mastered in recent years: transforming everything he touches into value. Ferrari brought him on board for this very reason — because Lewis Hamilton, before being just a driver, is a true factory of influence, image, and money.
