Charles Leclerc remains at Ferrari, but not necessarily out of love for the team. Some have started to question the Monegasque driver’s loyalty, suggesting he may have stayed at Maranello for reasons other than passion for the Scuderia.
The 25-year-old Ferrari driver has not yet decided on his long-term future, with the 2026 season expected to be decisive. Doubts have emerged regarding Charles Leclerc’s affection and commitment to Ferrari, with some believing his continued stay at the team is motivated by other factors.
Charles Leclerc’s words on the eve of the United States Grand Prix swept away weeks of rumors surrounding the team, from internal tensions to speculations involving Christian Horner and even a possible departure of the Monegasque. While his interviews still show affection that moves Ferrari fans, it is clear to many supporters that he is keeping his options open. For now, no change is planned, and Ferrari remains his priority—but next year, everything could be different.
Windsor: “Many teams will be ready to hire him”
“Regarding his future, I think that ultimately he wants to win a world championship, and he doesn’t care where,” said Peter Windsor in an interview on the Cameron Cc YouTube channel. “Until now, he hasn’t had any valid alternatives and has stayed at Ferrari. But next year, everything could change. If the Scuderia underperforms, there will be many teams ready to sign him in 2027, and he will go without hesitation. Seeing him in a title-contending car would be amazing, because he turns every race into a spectacle.”
Charles Leclerc has spent seven years in Ferrari without ever having a car that was competitive throughout an entire season. The team made several mistakes in 2025 that it must avoid in 2026. The new regulatory cycle presents a chance to return to the top and even establish dominance. Frédéric Vasseur knows that if the upcoming Ferrari is disappointing, the Monegasque driver could say goodbye to Maranello. His staunch defense of Lando Norris in Austin demonstrated, for anyone who might not have realized it yet, that Charles has reached a level on track comparable only to Max Verstappen.
“Austin was a typical Leclerc weekend. Despite the difficulties, Charles always manages to transform his race, holding off Norris for much of the Grand Prix. The more Ferrari lost rear downforce, the better he performed, as he had a car set up to his liking. The end-of-race degradation of the Ferrari shows just how far behind they were compared to McLaren and highlights the feat Charles accomplished in keeping Norris behind. But this is not new. In terms of talent, he is on par with Max.”
