Ferrari junior confirms: “I won’t be in Formula 1 next year”. Ferrari junior Oliver Bearman discusses his motorsport future.

During the first free practice session for the 2023 Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix, we saw five rookie drivers take to the track, including Ferrari Driver Academy’s representative, Oliver Bearman. The young British driver impressed everyone with his performance, finishing 15th on the timesheet, ahead of all his F2 peers and even ahead of Fernando Alonso, with Logan Sargeant only beating him by a few tenths.

At the end of the sixty-minute session, he was interviewed by Sky Sport and talked about his future. Here are some of his most important comments:

Oliver Bearman discusses his motorsport future

Speaking to Sky Sport, Oliver Bearman stated: “I won’t be in Formula 1 next year; I will do F2 again; it’s quite certain now. The goal is clear: I have to win. I hope to do a good enough job to end up in this paddock one day. Formula 1 is the next step, but it’s a bit more challenging than the previous ones.” – the Ferrari junior explained after his practice outing at the the 4.304-kilometre Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City.

Oliver Bearman’s debut season in Formula 2 has been exceptional, and he presently holds the sixth position in the drivers’ championship. He has already secured four wins this season, and Ferrari even provided him with an opportunity to drive the 2021-spec SF-21 earlier this month at Fiorano. When inquired whether Oliver Bearman’s performance had been unexpected, Haas trackside engineering director Ayao Komatsu responded:
