During Q1 in the qualifying session for the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc l reported a problem with his SF-23 single-seater via radio, which prevented him from completing a proper lap to make the cut into the second part of qualifying.
Leclerc complained via radio about something that made the car uncontrollable in left turns, but the Maranello team only mentioned a potential issue with the temperature of the rear tires, possibly due to a different setup compared to his teammate Carlos Sainz.
The technicians are working to understand the origin of the problem, and after inspecting the rear axle, they are now also dismantling the floor. It will be a long night for the mechanics in red.
Unless these interventions are deemed necessary for safety reasons, the driver may face a penalty (the cars cannot be touched in parc fermé) and therefore be forced to start from the pit lane.
