Italian blogger Leo Turrini, who is famously very close to proceedings at Ferrari, reflects on Scuderia Ferrari’s preparations ahead of the start of the 2020 Formula One season, in a post published today on his quotidiano.net blog:
“They will be both. Seb and Carletto. When Ferrari will soon turn on the 2018 car , Vettel and Leclerc will share space and time. Practically the strangest ever Formula One world world championship starts like this: from the need to keep together what is already separated in nature.
Not a simple task for Mattia Binotto, but a solution must be found without uncertainties. Among other things, it cannot be excluded that the championship will be reduced to a dozen races in all: ergo intriguing arithmetic situations could arise (like: you are out of the race a couple of times and you are almost out of the championship fight, because you will not have a chance to recover).
I know that in Maranello they worked and are working to correct the issues that the car had revealed in the pre virus tests.
Some positive signs have arrived but there are no absolute certainties. In theory, Red Bull should be very strong in Austria, taking Mercedes’ competitiveness for granted.
Ferrari in early July hopes to be there in between them. For now it is a trip with the lights off in the night to see if it is so difficult. Vettel and Leclerc will be two strange allies.
“Colonel, an incredible thing has happened: the Germans have allied with the Americans”
