The Qatar Sprint Race turned into a huge disappointment for Charles Leclerc and Ferrari. The Ferrari driver finished only in P13, lacking both pace and confidence, and his post-race comments reveal his frustration with an SF25 that simply never worked.
Charles Leclerc describes a tough start from the first meters
From the very first meters, the Ferrari gave Charles Leclerc unusual and sometimes worrying feedback. “In FP1 we tried something regarding the steering feel and that was a session on its own. Today was… I don’t understand what happened,” he explained to Sky Sport Italia.
Ferrari struggles and possible damage on Charles Leclerc’s car
The Monegasque even suspected a structural issue. “I thought there was a breakage problem. I know there’s something. Something broke on the front of the car,” he said.
Charles Leclerc explained that the situation deteriorated immediately in the first corners. The car was difficult to control and didn’t allow him to drive aggressively. “In the first two or three laps, it was just about keeping the car on track. With this feeling, you cannot attack.”
A survival race for Charles Leclerc
The Sprint became a mere survival exercise. The SF25 struggled on corner entry, corner exit, and gave the driver no confidence whatsoever. Charles Leclerc made no excuses. The performance was far from the standards Ferrari is expected to deliver. Understanding what went wrong—and doing it quickly—is essential.
“We need to fix something,” Charles Leclerc concluded, hinting that a thorough check will be crucial ahead of Sunday’s race. Ferrari is now facing a double challenge: insufficient race pace and the real possibility that Leclerc’s car suffered damage or a mechanical failure.
Heavy Saturday for Ferrari
With Lewis Hamilton only seventeenth in the Sprint and Charles Leclerc outside the top ten, the team’s Saturday performance was harsh. The Qatar Grand Prix promises a difficult Sunday for Maranello. Overnight, engineers will need to analyze data and find a safe and competitive setup. Charles Leclerc is clear: an immediate technical response is needed to avoid another nightmare weekend.
Unless Maranello can deliver a miracle fix overnight – both for the underlying lack of pace and any potential front-end damage on Charles Leclerc’s car – Sunday’s Qatar Grand Prix risks becoming another painful weekend for the most famous team in Formula 1.
