The lackluster performance of Mercedes combined with a competitive weekend allows Ferrari to catch up with the Brackley rivals ahead of the final challenge in Abu Dhabi. Here’s how the driver and constructor standings change after the 2023 F1 Grand Prix in Las Vegas.
Driver Standings
The Las Vegas race brings the first official confirmation at the top of the driver standings, with the exception of the world champion. With his third-place finish in Nevada, Sergio Perez secures the second position in the championship. Now, Lewis Hamilton is 41 points behind, an insurmountable gap in a single GP. At the same time, Hamilton himself is mathematically third in the standings.
The battle for the position at the foot of the drivers’ championship podium remains open. After Las Vegas, the fourth position is occupied by Carlos Sainz, the only non-Red Bull winner in 2023.
Tied at 200 points with the Spaniard is compatriot Fernando Alonso. Just behind them is Lando Norris, who remains capped at 195 points due to retirement in the early stages of the race. In contention for P4, a bit further behind, is also Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque, second in Las Vegas, closes the train hunting for the fourth position, 12 points behind the Ferrari.
