Let’s take a closer look at Pirelli’s forecast regarding race strategies for the 2025 Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix: Ferrari has a wildcard it can play to aim high. Among the variables that could decide the outcome at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, tire strategy is undoubtedly one of the most critical. Here, we examine Pirelli’s predictions and what Ferrari’s tire choices might be for the race.
The Scuderia, along with Lando Norris, has managed to preserve a set of new soft tires with Charles Leclerc. This wildcard could prove decisive for the race outcome.
Three strategic options in the teams’ hands
According to Pirelli’s forecasts, a one-stop strategy is expected to be the fastest. The optimal approach would likely involve starting on medium tires before switching to soft tires. In this case, pit stop windows are projected between lap 42 and lap 48.
An alternative could be to start on soft tires and finish on hard tires. If teams opt for this approach, the pit window would be between laps 26 and 32.
The third option involves starting on soft tires and later switching to medium tires. Here, pit stops would fall between laps 23 and 29.
Teams could also start on soft tires and switch to hard tires between laps 20 and 26. Another alternative is a two-stop strategy, starting on soft, then switching to medium tires between laps 16 and 22, and finally returning to soft tires between laps 48 and 54.

For this weekend, Pirelli has brought the Hard C2, Medium C4, and Soft C5 compounds. These are the tire sets still available to drivers after free practice and qualifying sessions.
