In the latest issue of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian daily newspaper highlights some important aspects regarding the Maranello team’s recent private testing session at the Fiorano circuit, as well as the preparations for the 2022 Formula 1 season, both from a technical and structural point of view:
- allegedly a rival team asked the FIA to stop Scuderia Ferrari from testing with the SF21 car in Fiorano thus the change in plans and the decision to use the SF71H car. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the rival team feared that Ferrari might collect data with the 2021 power unit in view of the new engine.
- Scuderia Ferrari hired around 30 engineers from other teams in recent months, which is not being unnoticed by the rival teams. Scuderia Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto also confirmed this information back in December, but adding that unlike others, they don‘t make special announcements for the new engineers).
- Scuderia Ferrari believes that the measures which they took after the tyre issues encountered on the French Grand Prix have had a positive impact on the Maranello team understanding the new 18-inch Pirelli tyres.
- the new ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) is running positively on the test bench, making the Ferrari engineers confident ahead of the new Formula 1 season, also thanks to Shell’s work on the new fuel.
